Three new world champion speed skiers have won on equipment prepared with HOLMENKOL nano-cfc® coatings.
January 2009 - Simone Origone, from Italy, was the Men’s World Champion for the third year running, reaching 225 km per hour.
Karine Dubouchet-Revol, of France, was the Woman’s World Champion, at 213.523 km per hour and Anne-Caroline Chausson, of France – the reigning Olympic BMX champion who is also an outstanding skier – was Ladies’ Downhill World Champion, at 182.833 km per hour.
Altogether, seven medals were won on equipment prepared with HOLMENKOL products. Franz Nemeth, head of the HOLMENKOL Alpine World Racing Team, helped prepare all skis up to 2.38 metres-long.
After a thrilling qualification, the Speed Skiing World Championship finals took place on Thursday 22 January, in Vars, France.
With previous heavy snow falls, it was impossible to adequately prepare the very steep start of the track. As a result, skiers competed on a slightly shorter course, which put Simone’s current world record of 251.4 km/h, out of reach.
HOLMENKOL’S nano-CFC® technology products use a combination of chemical and physical effects to minimise friction and abrasion and maximise water repellency, which help skiers go faster.
