GlideWax

Holmenkol classifies three categories of glide waxes
1. Hydrocarbon waxes (Alphamix, Betamix, Ultramix)
2. Fluorcarbon waxes (MatrixFX, HybridFX)
3. Finish waxes

Basicly those systems build up on each other. That means High Fluor presupposes Hydrocarbon, Fluor Finish presupposes Hydrocarbon and High Fluor. Consequently, each product´s potential is optionally displayed and the base is being cared for.

Application
The influence of heat (iron) increases the abraison resistance of the glide Waxes. The following work steps are required:
0.1.brush dirty ski / board with a bronce brush and remove siling
0.2.use an iron to drip hydrocarbon wax on the base and iron the ski. Do not use to much heat. Wax is supposed to flow, not to steam.
0.3.Scrape off warm wax with a plastic scraper. Attention! You might also scrape of parts of the base or structure. Please avoid!
0.4.Eventually repeat until no further soiling is visible
0.5.brush cold wax (bronce brush)
1.1.iron training / base wax, allow ski / board to cool
1.2.scrape off wax, thoroughly brush (bronce brush), eventually brush with Steel MicroFinish brush
2.1.iron Fluorcarbon wax, allow ski / board to cool
2.2.scrape off wax, brush with bronce brush, finish with Steel MicroFinish brush. Repeat step 2 for very long distances and very aggressive snow
3.1.put on Finish wax, iron in or / and work in with cork
3.2.brush thoroughly with horsehair brush after cooling,
3.3.lay open base structure by brushing once or twice with MicroFinish Brush

Work steps 2 and 3 are meant for racing preparation and are only necessary for according snow moisture and humidity. Make sure that your plastic scraper is sharp. This is gentle to the base. Use a groove scraper to free edges and groove from wax before scraping the nordic ski.

Hydrocarbon waxes
Training waxes: first-class paraffin selections without any synthetic additives create an independent wax system for the highest demands in the training and race sector.

Base preparation for Fluor coating: hydrocarbon waxes as base waxes form the best basis for the wax buildup with fluorcarbon waxes and TOPSPEED finishing products. Base waxes produce a stronger (more abraison-resistant) connection of the single wax layers and therefor form an ideal bond between ski base and the fluorcarbon waxes.

Care and cleansing for the ski base: furthermore, hydrocarbon waxes are the best, since most caring cleanser for the ski base.

Alphamix: soft new and fine snow, 0/-4 °C
Betamix: dry to moist, also aggressive snow, -4/-14 °C
Ultramix: cold, aggressive snow below -14°C

These waxes are very abraison-resistant and cover a wide range to be used.

Fluorcarbon waxes The new Hybrid Technology combines the best properties of the world´s highest quality adhesive and gliding active ingedients. HOLMENKOL fluorcarbon waxes are characterised by optimum gliding properties (extreme acceleration and high speed), with maximum abraison resistance in an unrivalled, broad spectrum of applications. By using new wax technologies HOLMENKOL set a new level of wax quality.

Finish waxes
Racing finish is the high end of waxing. But it will give its best performance only on an adequate paraffine layer. Many people don´t think about that. The best product will finish the well-prepared ski, but can not rescue the bad one.
