Best conditions for use
All the HOLMENKOL Racing Finish products have not only outstanding gliding properties and high durability, they really work in a wide range of conditions, more wide than the following notes. Within the written conditions they suffice fulfil the requirements on highest level, means in World Cup or your personal fight.
The most important aspect of classical cross-country skiing is the choise of the ski. It should show enough tension in order to prevent the wax joint from being pressed upon the snow during gliding periods. On the other hand, the ski may only be that hard, that it still allows the grip wax to be pressed on the ground during kick phases. Due to a thicker wax layer, klister skis are somewhat stiffer to choose than those for kick wax.
MatrixFX series
Newly developed fluorinated race waxes for use in nordic racing. Using HOLMENKOL-exclusive raw materials a new quality standard of gliding properties, abraison-resistance, water- and dirt-repellance was set.
The structure of the sole (contact area between ski and snow surface) affects the gliding qualities of the ski. In this gliding process to friction effects by the snow crystals and to suction effects by the water contained in the snow, appear. By special sole structures these effects can be decreased and/or switched off. Sole structures can be stamped manually with TRI-MAXX and XC-SUPERSTRUCTURE professionally.
Modern ski or board bases must satisfy the following demands: They should be elastic and at the same timewithstand the highest possible loads. For this reason, sintered bases are predominantly employed in racing sports today. Sintered bases can be produced with a wide range of different additives, each base form offers special qualities for particular conditions.
For good reasons in former times correct waxing was a ´black magic´ comparably with the secret sciences of medieval Alchimists: Snow in its different manifestations as infinitely variously as nature itself. Its condition depends on many factors such as temperature, air humidity, age and crystalline structure.

Edge preparation
Edge preparation includes the following working steps:
1.examination of the tread
2.treatment of the edges bottop surface
3.treatment of the side edges
4.edge finishing
5.edge repair
