The 75-year Horst Liebing from Calw assured the soq.de team the victory in his age group on the so-called S-distance. For the 52 kilometers Liebing needed 3:04 hours. The Offenburg triathlon was the second triathlon in his sporting career so far. "My biggest concern is the swimming. "After I heard that swimming with wetsuit is allowed, I was absolutely relieved" said the 75 years after the race. For the 1500 meters Liebing needed 37 minutes. The first transition with eight minutes took a relatively long time. On the bike course Horst Liebing was unstoppable. He expanded his lead on the only competitor in his age group and also left many triathletes behind. After a quick transition the 75 years old run the final 10 kilometers in 57 minutes. "I'm overjoyed to be witness that day." Overwhelmed by the emotions of a committed athlete, the oldest soq.de team member took personal congratulations of Ungerman. Liebing was supported before, during and after the race by his daughter Gritt who brought triathlon closer to her a few years ago. This year his goal was Offenburg triathlon. Asked for his other athletic goals Horst Liebing answered modest. The start at the Altburg“s 10,000 meters run is another event on this years program, but his dreams lead him to the 70.3 Ironman race in Wiesbaden. Asked what he would do, if he should qualify for the World Cup he replied: "Then I have to fly to America. But without my daughter is of course not."
